Tommy Janusz

Tommy is the founder and an owner of the bar athletic club. He has been coaching & personal training since 2006, for over 10 years. Most people recognize his skill in coaching athletes for powerlifting, but his knowledge goes much further. Tommy has coached various athletes from golfers to football players and has helped older populations with preventative and post-surgery rehab. Most of his clients are just looking to be fit and healthy. His passion is to help people achieve the results they seek.

When attending Texas A&M University, Tommy found passion and enjoyment after joining the power-lifting team. He later transferred to Angelo State University and continued powerlifting. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science at ASU in 2010 as well as his master’s degree in coaching sport, recreation, & fitness in 2013. While he was a student, Tommy founded the ASU Ram Powerlifting Team, which still thrives today. He also started a new team for people that are members or clients of the bar, the Barbarian powerlifting team.

I am a graduate of Tarleton State University studying with a degree is Exercise Science with an emphasis on tactical fitness and military strength and conditioning. I got my start right here are The Bar as a client, so I am not only a coach I am a client too! I came to The Bar for coaching to get an advantage in high school football as an overweight young man. I weighed over 270 pounds at 15 years old, after some time I decided I wanted to lose weight, so with some help I was able to get to a healthy bodyweight of 180 pounds, and since then I have been working on gaining muscle to be bigger, faster, and stronger.  I have gained knowledge not only in my experience working with a trainer but also working with Angelo State Athletics assisting with their strength & conditioning program. I have also been working at Goodfellow AFB assisting with the DOD Fire Academy Strength and conditioning program, which I am currently still involved with. Additionally, I am the director of our youth programs here at The Bar leading a group of young people in powerlifting as well as strength & conditioning.

I was an athlete growing up, I got involved in the gym in 2011. From years of discipline, I developed a new insight into training that strengthened what knowledge I had gained as a student athlete. For anyone looking to start their journey or reach new levels through personal training. I’d love to help!
